True West

Monday morning now, waking to glory in Buffalo Bill State Park just outside of Cody, Wyoming.

Pictures to follow.  It was just as beautiful last night when we arrived, just after sunset.  Later this morning we will be entering Yellowstone.

Ever since South Dakota we have seen that these landscapes are the true west, of the prairie and badlands and cowboys.

Approaching Cody across the grasslands driving west into the sun setting behind the mountains, clearly we needed to be driving a covered wagon, or on horseback driving the cattle.

Then we were fortunate enough to find a campsite here in this lovely, lovely state park.  And the wonderful smell!  It's somewhat like pine but clearly some tree or shrub as yet unidentified.

We are surrounded by mountains and water and beauty. Can't wait to see what comes next!
